Healthy ageing diet reduce asthma

Published : December 25th, 2017

The prevalence of asthma has more than doubled in western countries the last decades. Asthma often develope in early childhood, and is presently a condition affecting 1 in 5 children. Pregnant and breastfeeding women with a low intake of marine omega-3 (below 0.5 gram daily) can halve the risk of asthma developing in their children the 5 first year of life, by increasing their intake of marine omega-3 (EPA+DHA) to 2.4 gram daily during pregnancy and breastfeeding period. This is the main conclusion from a Danish study published in 2016 (1).

Recommended daily dosage of Balanstri Omega3+ as a dietary supplement is 15-20 ml, equivalent to 2.3-3.0 gram omega-3 (EPA + DHA) daily. In 2012, EFSA concluded that it was safe to consume up to 5 gram marine omega-3 (EPA + DHA) daily (2).
